Sharon Woods Visitors Center Pedestrian Bridge
Sharonville, Ohio
Pedestrian bridge’s custom design matches the aesthetics of the visitor center.
The bridge spans the 100-year flood plain of an existing creek and connects the Visitor Center with a parking lot. It consists of two steel beams with a sawn lumber deck, sawn lumber rail posts, and a custom-designed decorative steel railing. Set in a wooded location, the bridge minimizes its impact on existing trees.
The steel beams are made of weathering steel, which forms a dense layer of rust on its surface that minimizes further corrosion and does not require routine painting. The natural rust color complements the natural surroundings. Stone pillars with lighting at each end of the bridge add to its aesthetic appeal.
