South Russell Village Stream Restored to Healthy Form
CT is excited to see the final progress of this Manorbrook Stream Restoration project over the next few weeks. Plantings were installed in late Fall of 2022 and lay dormant through the winter, where seeds will begin to emerge shortly as the growing season begins. The project required clearing a forested plant community for the necessary grading to take place. To repurpose some of the trees onsite, the restoration was designed with the use of log riffle structures to provide grade control and enhanced aquatic habitat.
The Manorbrook Stream area will eventually turn back into forested wetlands as it becomes well-established over the next few decades. Until then, live stakes (shrub plantings) and a seeding mixture of grasses and sedges will flourish as bank and floodplain stabilization and provide essential native wildlife habitat. READ MORE

Honda Motor and LG Energy to Build EV Battery Plant in Fayetteville, Ohio
On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, joined by numerous state, local, and federal officials, announced that a joint venture between Honda and LG Energy Solutions will be constructing a $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery factory in Fayette County, Ohio at the Mid-West Mega Site near the interchange of I-71 and US 35. CT staff help build rain garden in South Russell
The clouds did not deter everyone pitching in to build a rain garden in South Russell Village Park. Chagrin River Watershed Partners, Inc. sponsored the installation as part of their rain garden class. The South Russell Village Mayor and crews, Cuyahoga Soil & Water, CT’s Emily Nagle, Carrie Ricker, Emmitt Messer-Kruse, and Rich Washington, made up the installation team.
