Lake County Parks Community Health Action Plans

Lake County, OH

Each report CT provided included recommendations and a list of potential funding sources for Lake County to begin implementing the plan.

CT focused on projects for five communities in Lake County:

    • Mentor Avenue Connectivity Plan
    • Mentor-on-the-Lake Parks Improvement Plan
    • Perry Township Park Trail Improvement Plan
    • Wickliffe Sidewalk Inventory and Improvement Plan
    • Willowick Parks Improvement Plan

The Plan4Health initiative, a national effort to link land-use planning with public health goals, provided funding for the project. Plan4Health is spearheaded by the American Planning Association and the American Public Health Association with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Each plan required coordination with the individual community and its administration to develop guidance for the overall long-range planning of the community’s recreation assets.

For each plan, CT inventoried and assessed the condition of existing park facilities; analyzed demographic information; reviewed site constraints and surrounding development; met with each community’s administration, elected officials, and recreation boards; conducted public outreach to identify desired park and trail amenities and refine the plans; prepared concept improvement plans with cost estimates, presented at public meetings.
