Plainfield Road Roundabout and Malsbary Road Extension
Blue Ash, Ohio
CT provided design services for a new single lane, 95’ diameter, three-leg roundabout.
At the entrance to the Daventry neighborhood, this roundabout accommodates two lanes of traffic, as well as pedestrians and bicyclists. The roundabout was designed for a WB62 tractor-trailer to turn southbound into Parkview from Plainfield. The new roundabout required the existing grade along Plainfield Rd to be raised, resulting in a portion of Plainfield Rd near the intersection to be re-profiled. The project included highway lighting at the intersection, regrading the adjacent golf course property, and reconstruction of the existing 10’ shared-use path.
As part of the same project, Malsbary Rd was extended 500 ft within the Daventry subdivision to an existing cul-de-sac on a new 60’ right of way. The existing Malsbary cul-de-sac was partially removed outside of the two-lane roadway, and a new curb and sidewalk were installed. Joint repairs and mill and resurfacing were provided for the 372 ft existing section of Malsbary Rd from the cul-de-sac to Carver Rd, and the 174 ft of the existing three-lane section from Carver to Reed Hartmann was replaced.
