Northwood PK-12 School
Northwood, Ohio
An important new school for a growing community.
CT was awarded the Site Development Services for this new PK-12 school. We performed the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), Geotechnical Subsurface Investigation, and Construction Materials Testing. Fanning Howey designed the new school building to be 130,000 sf, a two-story, slab-on-grade structure.
We conducted the site’s Phase I ESA in conformance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E 1527-13 to identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs).
The geotechnical subsurface investigation was conducted to evaluate the properties of the underlying soils concerning the design and construction of the proposed school building and pavements. Design and construction recommendations on foundations, floor slabs, and pavements were evaluated using soil index properties and engineering parameters determined from laboratory tests performed on the recovered soil samples.
The testing services include soil/stone compaction, concrete testing (including floor flatness), masonry, steel inspections, and fireproofing. All were performed following project specifications and ASTM Standards.
We were also awarded a contract with OFCC/Northwood Local School District to perform asbestos surveys, oversight, and prepare specifications.
