Newark Armory Improvements
Newark, Ohio
Operated by the Adjutant General Department, this state-owned site has been used for military purposes for over a century.
Our scope of services included design repairs for the masonry on the exterior of the building. Design services also included removing and replacing the existing roof, insulation, windows, and doors, as well as removing and reconfiguring the existing electrical lines on the roof and replacing all fascia, copings, flashings, downspouts, and gutters.
In August 2019, the project scope increased to include painting and updating the flooring in most interior spaces, replacing the lighting in the Drill Floor, and replacing the exit signage and emergency lighting throughout. In addition, CT provided new layout options for the women’s locker.
The facility is masonry and has historical design significance. CT utilized Advanced Engineering Consultants (AEC) services to provide mechanical and electrical engineering design and an environmental contractor to provide asbestos, lead paint, and mortar testing services.
