Flood Damage Reduction Study
Boardman, Ohio
This project is being completed in partnership with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), which has brought $260,000 in grant services and is providing planning and modeling expertise.
Due to perpetual flooding in the Cranberry Run Watershed, the ABC Water & Stormwater District in Boardman partnered with the USACE Pittsburgh District in 2020 to reduce flood damages along stormwater and open channel systems throughout the community. Several areas have flooded, including Anderson Run, Mill Creek, Indian Run, and Burgess Run. Cranberry Run is a sub-watershed of Anderson Run and is being prioritized for investigation as the focus of this study.
The primary goal of this project was to assist in the development of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling that could aid in the understanding of and solutions for the flooding in Boardman, Ohio.
