Arcola Creek Headwaters Restoration

Madison, Ohio

CT assisted the Village of Madison in implementing this EPA 319 grant-funded project to restore this Arcola Creek Headwaters stream to its more natural habitat.

The restored stream now has meanders, a connection to its floodplain, and better habitat for aquatic life. These changes slow the speed that water travels and increase flood storage, decreasing downstream flooding.

Stabilizing the eroding streambanks removes a source of nutrients and sediment, which helps to improve the water quality in Arcola Creek and Lake Erie.
