John brings more than 30 years of experience to CT. He is an Ohio VAP Certified Professional, and over his career, he has gained expertise in Phase I environmental site assessments, underground storage tanks closures, hydrogeologic site investigations, wetland delineations, asbestos and lead surveys, brownfield redevelopment, landfill monitoring, and posts closure certification.

- The Department of Development will begin accepting grant applications on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023. Applications will close at 11:59 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2024.
- Approximately $175 million will be available in FY24.
- $1 million is reserved for each county in Ohio.
- The remaining funds (approximately $82 million) will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for statewide eligible projects.
- In FY25, approximately $175 million, plus any unclaimed funds from FY 24, will become available on July 1, 2024, for eligible projects statewide.
- Properties applying for the program must meet the definition of brownfield.
- A brownfield is defined as an abandoned, idled, or under-used industrial, commercial, or institutional property where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by known or potential releases of hazardous substances or petroleum.

- Blighted, vacant or abandoned commercial and residential buildings on sites that are not brownfields are eligible for demolition.

- Eligible activities: Phase I and limited Phase II, Asbestos, and Geophysical surveys.
- Funding limits are project-specific.
- No end user is required.

- Administered by the Ohio Department of Development.
- Local governments: county, township, municipal corporations, port authorities, or conservancy/park districts are eligible.
- Eligible activities: Phase I and Phase II assessments.
- Funding limits – $300,000.
- No end user is required.

JobsOhio Revitalization Fund-Assessment
- Administered by JobsOhio Managing Directors.
- Local governments, non-profit, and for-profit entities are eligible.
- Eligible activities: Phase II Assessments.
- Funding limits – $200,000.
- High likelihood for jobs required.

- Funding limits – $500,000 for Phase II and $5,000,000 loan for cleanup.

Clean Ohio Trails Fund
- ODNR administered.
- Local governments, park and joint recreation districts, conservancy districts, soil and water conservation districts, and non-profits.
- Eligible land acquisition, new trails, connectors trails.
- Funding limits – $500,000 with a 25% match.
- No end user is required.
- Primarily for greenspace/recreation projects.

- Administered by the Ohio Public Works Commission.
- Local governments, park districts, and environmental and conservation organizations.
- Eligible for land acquisition and environmental conservation.
- $37,500,00 in annual grants.

Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant
- Administered by the Ohio Department of Development
- The program offers two types of grants: Assessment/Corrective Action and Cleanup and Remediation.
- Have a documented petroleum release that has been classified by BUSTR as Class C.
- The maximum Assessment/Corrective Action grant award is $250,000.
- The maximum Cleanup and Remediation grant award is $500,000 and is restricted to cleanup or remediation activities.
