This project will provide additional capacity, reduce congestion and improve safety on West Cherry Street (US36/SR37). It will also provide better traffic flow.

This increased capacity will serve the additional traffic demand of the Big Walnut High School and Prairie Run Elementary, both under construction and scheduled to open in 2022.

The design entailed the addition of a 900-ft long right turn lane and a concrete median on West Cherry Street along with signing, striping, and drainage improvements.

A survey of the project and a geotechnical report were completed prior to design. All lanes of traffic were maintained during construction. A unique aspect of this project was we were able to avoid many of the existing utilities were avoided when designing the storm sewer system while staying within the existing right of way.
