University’s Parking Lot Structural Failure Resolved and Water Quality Features Added.
The asphalt parking lot serving the Health and Physical Education Center (HPEC) at the Ohio University Eastern Campus experienced structural failure and was in need of complete reconstruction. Additionally, the retaining wall at the northeast corner of the parking lot was collapsing.
The University initiated this project to restore the integrity of the parking lot by providing an appealing parking facility that more closely matched the beautiful and well-maintained HPEC and Eastern campus.
A more-efficient design of the new parking lot resulted in an increase in the total number of parking spaces without increasing the footprint of the parking area. The design also included the incorporation of water quality features for post-construction stormwater treatment.
