Students Recognized for Supporting Troops During Holidays

March 17, 2015
Whitehall, Ohio

CT Consultants’ Bill Sampson and Sargent Dustin Snyder, LTC GregoKae Elementary 1ry Rogers and Sargent Pat Burke of the Ohio Army National Guard recognized the faculty and students at Kae Avenue Elementary School, Whitehall, Ohio, with a Certificate of Appreciation for their thoughtful holiday cards to our troops serving overseas. The presentation on March 13, 2015 was sponsored by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Kittyhawk Post.  Bill Sampson, who chairs the Post’s Yellow Ribbon Program, reached out to the school last November to invite the faculty and students to participate. The students generated over 1,200 festive cards that were sent to our troops serving overseas and to injured veterans and their families here at home.

LTC Rogers also engaged the students in his hands-on presentation on the evolution of combat uniforms and field gear in the United States since World War I.

The Kittyhawk Post’s Yellow Ribbon Program was established to remind all Americans that we are grateful for the service of our men and women and encourage all of us to remember each day the sacrifice that our soldiers in uniform make to protect our freedom.
