Convention Center Exhibit Hall Expansion Phase 3

Sharonville, Ohio

The 36,000 sf addition will double the size of the exhibit hall and provide additional overhead height to accommodate sporting events.

The Sharonville Convention Center is located on the north side of Cincinnati and hosts moderate to large-sized events and conventions. Upon the completion of a significant renovation and expansion to
the facility in 2012 (by CT Consultants), the City was already planning future growth.

To keep up with the competition and retain long-term clients whose events continue to grow, the City identified the need for additional exhibit hall space, food/beverage offerings, storage, and support areas. The 36,000 sf addition will double the size of the exhibit hall and provide additional overhead height to accommodate sporting events, such as volleyball and cheer.

Within the expansion are a 9,300 sf storage mezzanine, full-service kitchen and concessions area, a grab-n-go vending area, promoter’s office, first aid center, ticket office, restrooms, and pre-function space. The expansion will match the existing design, materials, and finishes, so the entire facility will appear to have been built at the same time.

During the pandemic, with construction costs soaring, the biggest challenge was building flexibility into the bidding of the project to allow the City to include as much as possible while staying within the budget. The project included eight (8) alternates, allowing the City to select and prioritize items of work based on available funding.
