Convention Center Expansion and Renovation

Sharonville, Ohio

The convention center expansion and renovation is the cornerstone of the City of Sharonville’s efforts to revitalize the business corridor and hospitality district.

The convention center added 20,330 sq ft of exhibit space, 13,100 sq ft of new meeting room space and a 14,000 sq ft Grand Ballroom to the existing convention center to accommodate larger events.

The facility is now a total of 133,000 sq ft. CT designed a new main entrance and entry lobby to facilitate better guest circulation and break-out event space. A 4,500 sq ft reception gallery serves as a pre-function space. There is a 4,500 sq ft outdoor veranda for added event space. The selected materials of the expansion complement the existing building’s architectural features, refine and simplify the construction, and control costs.

The main entrance is a glass rotunda, which relates to the original entry. With interior lighting design and featured lighting, the new rotunda serves as a beacon for the distant observer and highway traveler and a ‘destination’ for the guests arriving for their events. The project received LEED Silver Certification from the USGBC and was a 2014 Cincinnati Business Courier Green Business Award Honoree. The convention center expansion and renovation is the cornerstone of the City of Sharonville’s efforts to revitalize the Chester Road business corridor and hospitality district. Project Cost: $26 million.
